This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church welcomes all visitors and members to worship this Sunday at 10:00 AM. This is the time that been set aside for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! If you are visiting Calvin for the first time please make yourself at home. We've been praying for you, and hope you will experience the joy of life-changing love.
Calvin is located at the intersection of 7th St SE and 4th Ave. SE, just east of Foster Park. Children are encouraged to attend. We have Busy Bags for them to use during the service. They can be found in the foyer.
Calvin has room to socially distance in the sanctuary. We ask that you do not sit directly behind someone or in front of someone. This simple step will assure that we meet the distancing recommended by CDC Guidelines. Seating is available in the choir loft. If you have a mask, feel free to wear it to church, and/or during the service, your choice.
This Sunday our pulpit is being filled with a Classical Appointment. The Rev. Loren Kotman, from 1st CRC Hull, IA, will lead our service. He has chosen Romans 8: 28 - 39 and Heidelburg Catechism Lord's Day 10 for the text of his message entitled "The Providence of God."
Worship and pray as you enter the sanctuary and prepare your hearts as you listen to "Great is the Lord" and "I Love You, Lord" played on the grand piano. The hymns focusing on the Providence of God will be "Guide Me, O My Great Redeemer", "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty", "You Are My All in All", "Day by Day" and "In Our Lives Lord, Be Glorified."
All are invited to the Adult Sunday School Class at 9:00 AM. The video by Max Lucado will be shown. This week's lesson is titled "We Need Help." This was used several years ago when we needed a new pastor. It inspired many to come to prayer daily because we need God's help in this search. We know He already has someone special in mind for Calvin. We need to do our part and commit to prayer all our wants and needs. A Search Committee has been formed and are starting the process. Thank you to all who have volunteered for this task. You are an answer to prayer already.
This week Wednesday, October 7th, the Afternoon Bible Study will meet at 1:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Anyone from the community is invited to join us. This will be our first study. Books will be handed out at this time. The Study is called "102 Fascinating Bible Study lessons. We begin with prayer concerns and conclude with dessert and fellowship.
Your offerings and tithes can be placed in the wicker basket in the narthex, sent to the office at 326 7th St SE, or given to the secretary during office hours Monday through Friday 10 - noon.
Our services may be seen on line streaming, on our website after Monday morning at calvincrclemars.org or listened to on CDs on the ledge by the mailboxes.
Our only hope for our city, nation and the world comes from Jesus and all He's done for us and has promised us. Trust in Him.
