This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church begins the fall season with the Commissioning of Sunday School Teachers and Bible Study Group Leaders. We are thankful for their willingness to lead us in the study of the Word of God.
This Sunday we also ordain and install the new Elders and Deacons. We celebrate God's gift of faithful leadership for his people. We joyfully thank him for elders and deacons who have served well and completed their terms of office. And we praise him for providing their successors.
Pastor Verlyn Schaap, a retired Christian Reformed Pastor from Sioux City and a friend to many at Calvin is leading the service this Sunday, September 13th at 10:00 AM. He has chosen the passage from James 1: 1 - 12 for his text. His sermon is titled "What if blessings come through a pandemic?" The song of response is "Blessings" by Laura Story.
Miriam Hector will lead all into a spirit of worship with a prelude on the grand piano. The All For Him band will lead the singing of "Hear the Call of the Kingdom", "Like a River Glorious", and "Yes I Will." Our faithful singers are Patrick Vissscher, Steve Ver Mulm, Mary Fedders and Lyn Bulthuis. The instrumentalists are Bruce Smit on drums, Bob Hughes and Ron De Kok on acoustic guitars, Jim Viet on bass and Miriam Hector on Keys.
Adult Sunday School will meet at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Dave Hector will begin the year with some options for Study and is asking for all the participants' input. We have several very interesting studies available. Bring your offering for the World Relief Program. We will collect the year's offerings and at the conclusion pick out lots of wonderful gifts for people all around the world.
Monday night Pete Attema would love to have some people accompany him to the Kingdom Boundaries Prison Aftercare Annual Banquet from 5:30 - 6:30. Fellowship and silent auction follows.
