This Week at Calvin
"Praise the Lord! Enter His gates with Thanksgiving, enter His courts with praise. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord." (Psalm 100 and 150) Calvin Christian Reformed Church is thankful we can praise God in His sanctuary again. All are welcome to join us at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars, IA for public worship on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 10 AM for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If you are visiting Calvin for the first time please make yourself at home. We have been social distancing by sitting in the pews either at the end or in the middle to stagger seating.
The service is recorded live for online streaming, on the web at calvincrclemars.org (available on Monday) and on CDs placed by the mailboxes.
Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp is on vacation yet this week, but Rev. Dave Smit, a retired CRC pastor from Sioux Center will be leading the service.
Mandy Viet will provide the music for the service beginning with the prelude on the grand piano. She will accompany the songs of praise: "Your Name", "How Great is Our God", " Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine", "God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand". To prepare for the reading of The Word, the congregation will sing "Speak O Lord." Rev. Smit has chosen 1 Peter 1: 1 - 4. His sermon is titled "Commitment?" There is not passing of the offering plates during the service. Feel free to give your tithes and offerings as you walk out and place them in the basket in the narthex, or mail them to the church office, or drop them off when the secretary and building are open Monday through Friday 10 - noon.
This week we are thankful that Steve and Will Ver Mulm will run the sound system and record the service on line.
This week Calvin will be responsible for delivering Meals on Wheels beginning Monday, July 20. We are driving one route, but it works best if two people can help each other on this one route. Meet at the Senior Center behind City Hall to pick up the meals at 10:40 AM. Helen De Stitger has graciously consented to organize this service. Let her know you can help by signing up in the narthex or calling her. Thank you.
The Christian Needs Center continues to supply people with food and clothing. You may leave your food donations in the blue barrel in the narthex. July's needs include soup, mac & cheese, hamburger/tuna helper, pasta sauce, spaghetti noodles, green beans, pork & beans, peas, carrots, canned fruit, shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste. The CNC is open Monday through Wednesday 9 - 3.
Calvin encourages all to be safe and diligent in social distancing and wearing of masks. Be kind and considerate of others.
