This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church (CCRC) is "A Caring Church, Reaching Community." One of our mission statements is to "develop a heart for our neighbors which leads us to serve and reach out to them for Christ."
This month Calvin is hoping to deliver Meals on Wheels to our community. As of now, we are scheduled to begin the week of July 20th. Volunteers may sign up in the narthex or visit with Helen De Stitger about available times to drive the meals around the routes.
Another way we can reach out to our neighbors is to donate items to the Christian Needs Center. The blue barrel in the narthex is waiting for goods to meet the larger need in food. July needs include: soup, mac & cheese, hamburger/tuna helper, pasta sauce spaghetti noodles, green beans, pork & beans, peas, carrots, canned fruit, shampoo, toilet paper and toothpaste. The doors are open to shop the CNC on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 3 pm. They are staying open over the noon hour.
Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars, IA. We invite all visitors and members to worship with us at 10:00 AM. on Sundays. This is a time that has been set aside for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! If you are visiting Calvin for the first time, please make yourself at home. We've been praying for you and hope you will experience the joy of God's life changing love.
Pastor Nevada DeLapp will be on vacation the next two weeks. The Dr. Jason Lief, Professor of Biblical & Theological Studies at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA where he teaches courses in Christian education and youth ministry, will fill Calvin's pulpit this week. He has chosen John 2: 1 - 11 for the text of his sermon on "Wine to Gladden the Hearts of God's People."
Miriam Hector will provide the prelude on the grand piano as the congregation prepares for worship. She will play an arrangement of "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High." The All For Him band will accompany the songs of worship. Bruce Smit will play drums, Ron DeKok and Bob Hughes on acoustic guitars, Jim Viet on bass, Miriam Hector on keys, Mary Fedders and Steve Ver Mulm on vocals. The songs include: "Holy Spirit", "Who You Say I Am", "Ancient Words", "The Power of Your Love" and "Shine, Jesus Shine."
Calvin's services can now be viewed online, Facebook or on our website (www.calvincrlemars.org) or heard on DC. Extra CDs are available by the mailboxes in church for anyone who would like to have one.
If anyone has a need, please call the church at 546-4767, or contact an elder. We want to minister to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships. Grace and peace.
