This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church on 326 7th St SE, celebrates Trinity Sunday on June 7th. What is Trinity Sunday, you ask? Sundays are a holy day in Christianity, and Trinity Sunday is particularly holy. This is the first Sunday after Pentecost and celebrates the Holy Trinity - the father, the son and holy ghost. On this day Christians worship God and give thanks for everything the Trinity has done to save us from our sins.
Worship time at Calvin will change to 10:00 AM. You may attend in person and sit interspersed in the pews throughout the sanctuary. It has been great to see our friends again in worship, but please stay home if you do not feel comfortable coming. If you feel sick, please stay home. Our services are online, on our church website at calvincrclemars.org or on CDs for your time of worship. Please feel free to stop by the church between 10 and noon, Mondays - Fridays. You may use this time to pray in the quietness of the sanctuary for our nation, state and city as well as those who govern over us. We ask the Holy Spirit to hover over us and all our chaos.
Miriam Hector is planning to play some prelude music making up a medley of songs about The Trinity.
Pastor Rev Dr. Nevada DeLapp will continue with a Welcome and Announcements. All will enter into a Time of Silence and respond with "Here Our Prayer, O Lord."
Our opening Song of Worship is "Open My Eyes, That I May See." Pastor will lead us into a Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon. For Trinity Sunday we have chosen to sing "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty." The Congregational Prayer will be lead by Pastor. Before the Reading of the Word, all will sing "Sweet, Sweet Spirit." The Gospel lesson comes from 1 John 4: 7 - 12. Pastor has chosen John 14: 16- 21 for the text of his sermon "the Holy Spirit is a person not a 'force'. The congregation will sing "They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love" for the song of response. Following the Benediction we will sing the "Gloria Patri"(Glory Be to the Father).
On June 14, Calvin will honor its graduates from High School and College.
All are welcome to attend our worship services and feel a sense of community in our midst. Don't forget the service time change to 10:00 AM. Hope to see you there.
