This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 326 7th St SE, Le Mars, IA prays that you are seeing Jesus at work in your life as you endure the pandemic. We are looking for ways to help each other and our neighbors during this strange time. Some people will need individuals to pick up things like groceries for them or someone to talk to. If you have a need, please contact our church office (546-4767) or use the church email address calvinlemars@gmail.com, and we will find a volunteer to run your errand. Pastor Nevada DeLapp is available to talk by phoning 616-443-4164. The church is open from 10 - noon Monday through Friday. You may come to pray, meditate, bring your tithes and offerings to the office. There is a library set up in the basement. YOu ware welcome to check out any of the titles you find there. If anyone has books, CD's, and/or DV's to donate to the library it would be appreciated.
Now that Gov. Reynolds has made some changes to the recommendations regarding worship services; the Council of Calvin CRC has decided that Sunday worship will resume.
First some recommendations. If any of you have concerns about meeting as a group, please don't feel obligated to attend at this time. If you have underlying health conditions, or are just not comfortable, the service will still be available online (youtube) on CD or on the church's website at http://www.calvincrclemars.org. We will miss you, but want you to stay physically healthy as well.
Here are our guidelines, please read them and do your best to adhere to these practices.
- Come to church and proceed directly to the sanctuary.
- One row should have persons seated at the ends (the aisle)the row in front should have persons seated in the middle of the row only. The next row would have persons seated at the ends (aisles).. This will allow us to stagger seating and maintain the requested distancing.
- Seating is available in the choir loft as well.
- Please sit with members of your immediate household only.
- If you have a mask, feel free to wear it to church, and//or during the service, your choice.
- At the conclusion of the service, please delay your exit, and allow the people seated toward the rear of the sanctuary to exit the church. That way we won't bunch up in the narthex.
Needless to say,, no coffee and cookies, fellowship should happen on your own by telephone or spacing apart in the parking lot.
No Sunday School for adults or school aged students.
The nursery will not be open for anyone, care for children should continue to be provided by their immediate family.
You are welcomed to come to church prior to 10:15 AM on Sunday to pray and invite the Holy Spirit to come into this place. Miriam Hector will play a grouping of songs on the grand piano by Lori Line starting at 10:05. Some titles she has chosen are: "All Creatures of Our God and King", "Jesus is All the World to Me", "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow". Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp continues his series of sermons on the Psalms. This Sunday will focus on Psalm 2, a Royal Enthronement Psalm. The congregation will join in singing "Come We That Love The Lord", "Lead On, O King Eternal", and "There is A Redeemer" accompanied by the organ. There will be a call to worship, time of confession and assurance of pardon, and congregational prayer. The Gospel reading this week is from John 14: 15 - 21 and will be preluded by the singing of "Break Now the Bread of Life". As we go out into the world we will sing "Go, My Children with My Blessing."
This week would customarily be a Communion Sunday. However, Calvin has chosen to fast from partaking of the Lord's Supper during Covid - 19. We do encourage our members to keep the Christian Needs Center in mind this week by making donations of granola bars, soup, pasta sauce, spaghetti noodles, peas, carrots, canned tomatoes, juice and syrup. These can be set in the blue barrel in the narthex. Dave Hector will deliver them to the CNC on Tuesday. The CNC is open Monday through Wednesday 8:30 am to noon and 1 to 3:30 pm.
All visitors are welcome to worship with Calvin. We hope you will experience the joy of God's life changing love with us.
