This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 326 7th St SE, Le Mars, IA provides a meaningful, stimulating educational and discipleship opportunities to promote a growing relationship with Christ. On Sundays at 9:00 AM there are education classes for ages 4 - Adult. The children will be taught by Sharon Zomermaand the story of David and Goliath through story and experience. The young people are led in discussion of youth related topics with Cass Martin. Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp is leading the Adults through the 2nd book of Peter with historical background and present day application.
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday nights the Men's Group meets at 6:45 at Cork-It for fellowship and discussion.
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, the Afternoon Women's Bible Study continues their DVD inspiration from Ray Vander Laan's Walking With God through the Desert. This week's lesson begins on page 291 "Longing for God in the Desert." Dessert, fellowship and even a pertinent song are included.
Calvin seeks to serve our neighbors as a group of members meet at Rejoice! on the third Wednesday at 9:30 AM to set the tables for that evening's Banquet.
Monday, March 30th, Calvin members are known to minister to our neighbors through caring relationships by attending the Tenth Annual Youth For Christ/PLymouth County BE THE STORY BANQUET to be held at the Le Mars Convention Center. Doors open at 6:00 PM with Dinner & Program at 6:30 - 8:00 PM.
This Sunday at 10:15 AM we set aside this time for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Miriam Hector will play an arrangement of "Awesome God" by Rich Mullins arranged by Bill Wolaver on the grand piano. The Call to Worship will be a responsive reading from Psalm 22: 23-331. Our opening song of worship is "Amid the Thronging Worshipers". Following God's Greeting we will all join in singing "Our God Is An Awesome God." The Prayer of Confession is taken from Psalm 130 and Mark 5: 21 - 43. Another candle in The Lenten Triad will then be extinguished. Each Sunday another candle of the 6 purple candles is snuffed out until we reach Good Friday when the white Christ Candle will also be snuffed out signifying the death of Christ. Of course, we know that it will be relit again on Easter Sunday when our Lord and Savior comes back to life. A special offering will be taken for Zestos while the worship song "How Deep The Father's Love For Us" is played.
The Gospel reading is from John 3: 1 - 17. The Gospel Hymn is "Humble Thyself".
The text for Pastor DeLapp's sermon is found in Judges 6 where Gideon experiences God's strength in his and the Israelites' lives.
This Sunday Calvin will celebrate communion to all who have been baptized, are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord. The familiar songs of "Above All" and "Jesus Paid It All" will be played for all to meditate on.
All in attendance will leave with the singing of "Lord I Need You."
Calvin's tradition on Communion Sundays is to donate to the Christian Needs Center. March needs are: juice, mac & cheese, soup (any kind is good but mainly cream soups), fruit, oatmeal, and laundry detergent. These items can be place in the blue barrel in the narthex. Dave Hector will deliver them during the next week.
