This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church welcomes Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp back to the pulpit this Sunday. He will conclude his series of sermons on Revelation with the 21st Chapter of the New Heaven and the New Earth.
Angeli Shieh and Miriam Hector will play the piano and organ duet of "The Holy City" on the piano and organ for the prelude. All will join in singing the triumphant hymns of "All Creatures of Our God and King", "Majesty", " "Rejoice the Lord is King". The All For Him band will sing the new song by Andrew Peterson "Is He Worthy?" for the offertory. This week we celebrate communion. All who have been baptized, are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to liv in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord this morning. Everyone is encouraged to bring items for the Christian Needs Center in Le Mars. February needs: soup; scanned tuna or chicken, instant potatoes; pork & beans; juice; spaghetti noodles; shampoo. Our Special Offering on February 16 will be designated for the Le Mars Youth for Christ. This week Dave Hector & Carol Wolfswinkel will be greeters, Ina Gjorge & June Vos will serve coffee, Mike Van Otterloo will usher, Helen DeStigter supervises nursery, Bruce Smit controls the sound system and Jeremy Kamp runs Power Point. A big thank you to all who serve.

This Sunday evening at 5:00 PM Calvin Church hosts the 16th Annual Praise Band Fest. We are thrilled to have 3 worship bands and a trio from our community churches. What a great time of worshipping God with some of the contemporary Christian songs that are heard on radio and internet! You will see many familiar faces that lead worship in our community. People of Praise from St. John's Lutheran, Rejoice Praise Team, All For Him from Calvin and a trio from Le Mars Church of Christ will each sing about 20 minutes. We will end with a massed band song of "Lord I Need You". Other songs you will recognize are: "What a Beautiful Name", "Great I Am", "It is Well", "Your Grace is Enough", "Oceans" and "Living Hope". A freewill offering will be taken for the new Her Health Women's Ministry that is coming to Le Mars. They will offer free ultrasounds and counseling to women and couples, totally rely on donations. After the PBF there will be taverns, chips, bars and cookies served in the Fellowship Hall at Calvin. Don't let the stair deter you from joining us. We have a new lift chair that will easily transport you down and up the stairs. Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE. Come and worship with us.

On Wednesday at 1:30 PM the Afternoon Women's Bible Study meets to continue the study of "Walking With God Through our Deserts" with a DVD by Ray Vander Laan and discussion led so beautifully by our own Lyn Bulthuis. This lesson begins on page 248. Dessert, coffee and fellowship follows.

Sunday, February 23rd, the Men of Calvin are serving an Appreciation dinner to the ladies of Calvin at 5:00 PM.
What a treat this will be!
