This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church welcomes all who are looking for a church home to visit and make yourself at home. Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE, Le Mars. 10:15 AM on Sundays is the time that has been set aside for the public worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
Our Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp is on vacation the next two weeks, so we will have some familiar friends of Calvin filling the pulpit. This week on Feb 2nd Rev. Troy Van Beek, a Calvin son, will preach The Word. Feb. 9th, Rev. Norlyn Van Beek, a former student pastor at our church returns. We are thankful for what God has done in both of their lives and love having them return to Calvin
Rev. Troy Van Beek will use the text of Matthew 7: 21 - 28 to preach the message "Hearers and Doers". The theme is about being able to follow through with what we hear Jesus teaching I the Sermon on the Mount. Miriam Hector will lead all into a spirit of worship with a prelude on the grand piano. The hymns for this Sunday are: "How Great Thou Art" (with Miriam on the organ and Patrick Visscher on trumpet), "In Christ Alone"and 'Ten Thousand Reasons". The All For Him praise band will sing "Living Hope" for the offertory. Following the message, the song of response will be "Lead Me, Guide Me". We will be sent out with the benediction and singing of the chorus "O God, You Are My God."

Sunday School classes for ages 4 through adult are held at 9:00 AM. Sharon Zomermaand is sharing the story of David as a shepherd boy with the young children. Cass Martin is wrapping up the 7 Deadly Sins with the young people. The Adults are viewing a video of Francis Chang. Coffee will be ready. Come and join us in these stimulating educational opportunities.
Mark your calendars for the Annual Praise Band Fest to be held at Calvin on February 16th at 5:00 PM. Three bands will be leading with 20 minutes each of their favorite contemporary Christian songs. We are excited that People of Praise from St. John's Lutheran Church, Rejoice! Praise Team and All For Him from Calvin will be sharing and leading us in joyful worship together.
On Wednesday, February 5, at 1:30 PM the Afternoon Women's Bible Study will continue "Walking in the Desert" video with Ray Vander Laan. Following the discussion they will share in coffee and dessert and fellowship.
Looking ahead: the men of Calvin are planning a special treat for the women at Calvin on February 23rd in the evening serving them food and offering interesting entertainment. More details to follow.
