This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church wants to send out a huge THANK YOU to all who came to eat and fellowship at the Election Night Soup Supper. What wonderful food and meeting our neighbors and friends from this area! The proceeds will be divided equally between the Sioux City Gospel Mission and the Center for Financial Education in Le Mars. Again thank you helping us to help others.

This week is another busy week of being Jesus' hands and feet. Calvin and our friends from the First Baptist Church are volunteering to deliver Meals on Wheels. If you are willing to help, a signup sheet is in the narthex. If you have questions, contact Helen DeStigter

For the next two Sundays, Calvin Church will be conducting worship services at the area nursing homes and care facilities. This Sunday, November 10th, we will be at Brentwood Good Samaritan at 1:30 PM, Park Place Estates - 2:15 and Pride Group Home at 3:00. Pastor DeLapp will deliver a short meditation, Miriam Hector will accompany favorite hymns and many volunteers from our congregation assist those in attendance.

Operation Christmas Child boxes are available in the narthex. Please return filled boxes by November 17th to the church. This Sunday during the offertory we will view another heart touching story of a child receiving his Christmas box and hearing the story of Jesus' love for him.

At Calvin there are Education Classes for ages 4 through Adults. Please come at 9:00 AM on Sunday to share a cup of coffee and participate in this wonderful opportunity to grow in your relationship with Christ.

At 10:15 all are gathered to praise and worship God in the sanctuary. Miriam Hector will play a Praise Medley (How Majestic is Your Name/Great is the Lord) on the grand piano. The words and music are by Michael W Smith and arranged by Don Wyrtzen. The service opens with a sung Call to Worship "This Is The Day". Other songs of Praise will include "How Great is Our God with the chorus of How Great Thou Art", "Meekness and Majesty" and "Build Your Kingdom Here". The All For Him band and singers will lead the congregation in singing of these praiseworthy songs. Singers include Patrick Visscher, Steve Ver Mulm, Mary Fedders and Lyn Bulthuis. The Band includes Bruce Smit on drums, Bob Hughes and Ron De Kok on acoustic guitars, Jim Viet on bass guitar and Miriam Hector on the keyboard. Our Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will be reading the Gospel according to John Chapter 1: 25 - 51. The Gospel hymn this week is "God of the Word". The text for the sermon is Revelation 4: 1 -11. God gives us stereoptic vision of earth as it is in heaven.

After worship, Calvin enjoys coffee, hot chocolate and cookies while fellowshipping with visitors and friends.

Wednesday evening will be the Women's Bible Study on Joshua at 6::30 PM. They will begin the video and discussion for Week 5 "Claiming Our Inheritance and Receiving Our Victory".

A men's group is forming soon. If you'd like to know more details contact Duane Walhof or Mike Van Otterloo.

Looking ahead November 17th is Communion. November 26th, Thanksgiving Eve, Calvin will have a special Thanksgiving service at 6:30 PM.

Calvin has a website at http://www.calvincrclemars.org for more information about who we are and to listen to past services. Our physical building can be found on 4th Ave SE at the junction of 7th St SE. We've been praying for you, and hope you will experience the joy of God's life changing love as we worship and work together.
