This Week at Calvin

Calvin Christian Reformed Church encourages all citizens that are registered to vote to exercise that right on Tuesday, November 5th. When you are finished, come to our church at 326 7th St SE for a Soup Supper serving pig-in-a blankets, homemade soups, homemade desserts and taverns. Do you want to take the meal to go? We will have a carryout line! Serving time is from 5 to 7 PM. Ticket prices are Adults: $10, Children 5 - 10: $5, and Children under 5: free. Profits from this year's Soup Supper will be divided equally between the Sioux City Gospel Mission and the Center for Financial Education in Le Mars. As in the past this all takes place in the church's basement. HOWEVER, this year we have a chair lift to assist those where steps are a challenge. Please do not be afraid to ask for this service. We would love to help you get to the basement safely.

As you enter our church you will see empty and filled boxes for Operation Christmas child on the shelf in the narthex. If you feel so inclined you may take an empty box and return it filled to the church by Sunday, November 17. There are suggestions in each one for great gift ideas.

The Annual Bowl-a-Thon for Youth for Christ will take place on November 3. Join Calvin from 2:30 - 5:30 at the Sweet 16 Lanes in Le Mars. It is free with snacks, pop, shoes and bowling included. We are hoping to have 1 adult and 1 youth team for Calvin. Elaine Van Otterloo will answer any questions you have if you would like to join the groups.

Calvin, along with the First Baptist Church is delivering meals during November. Each church needs one driver each day. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. Please prayerfully consider helping with this community outreach opportunity. If you have questions, contact Helen DeStigter.

This Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM, Education Classes are held for all ages. Pastor De Lapp is leading the Adults on "What is Worship?" Cass Martin leads the youth in a class on The Seven Deadly Sins. Sharon Zomermaand lovingly teaches the littles about the love of God

Worship at Calvin begins at 10:15 AM. This Sunday Miriam Hector will lead all into worship with a prelude on the grand piano. Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp begins a sermon series on Revelation 1: 1 -20. This is the Apostle John's opening vision while on the Island of Patmos. He see God seated on His throne; Jesus as both God and man. The congregation will sing "O Worship the King", "Before the Throne of God", "Meekness & Majesty" and conclude with "Jesus is a Rock in a Weary Land." The Old Testament readings will be Daniel 7: 8 - 14 and Ezekiel 1: 22 - 28.

Greeters for this Sunday will be Dave Hector & Carol Wolfswinkel, Coffee Servers: Pete and Mary Attema, Usher: Mike Van Otterloo, Nursery: Troy & Elisa Hughes, Sound System: Bruce Smit and Power Point: Jeremy Kamp.

Calvin welcomes all to join us as we praise God through creative and joyful worship, sound Biblical preaching, as well as ministering to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships. You can find us on the web at www.calvincrclemars.org.
