This Week at Calvin

Part of Calvin Christian Reformed Church's Mission is to "Minister to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships. For the next two weeks Calvin will be leading worship services at the local nursing homes. The services will begin at 1:30 at Good Samaritan, 2:15 at Park Place Estates, and 3:00 at Pride Group. Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will lead the service with prayer, scripture and meditation on scripture. Miriam Hector will accompany favorite hymns and several members will join in welcoming the residents and worshipping with them.

This week Calvin will witness another profession of faith from one of their young members. What an exciting time to hear their public declaration of love for Jesus as their Lord and Savior! In response, the congregation will sing "This Little Light of Mine."

Calvin also welcomes back Pastor Nevada after a week of study leave. He will be concluding his sermon series on The Lord's Prayer by focusing on the "Amen." He will base his message on 2 Corinthians 1: 12 - 22. John Klocksiem will be reading 1 Chronicles 16: 7, 34 - 36, David's Psalm of Thanks that concludes saying "Then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise the Lord." The hymns "Come, Christians, Join to Sing", "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty" and the "Threefold Amen" will be accompanied by Miriam Hector on the newly purchased Allen organ.

The offertory will be a solo on the grand piano entitled "Shine, Jesus, Shine." Miriam has chosen the organ classic "Panis Angelicus" (Bread of Heaven) to play for the prelude on the piano and organ.

This week Calvin Church will celebrate Communion. All who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord. As is Calvin's tradition, this is the Sunday we also gather items for the Christian Needs Center. A few things they are in need of are: pancake mix, syrup, granola bars, pork & beans, pasta sauce (no noodles), jelly and juice. These can be placed in the blue barrel in the narthex. Dave Hector will deliver them on Wednesday.
As we all gather around the Lord's table, we also gather after the service for fellowship and food. The fellowship committee is planning a noon meal. Meat will be provided, please bring side dishes if you are able. Come and enjoy.

This Sunday a Special Offering will be designated for the Le Mars Teen Center.

Greeters this week are Dave Hector & Carol Wolfswinkel, Coffee Servers - Gary & Glenda Habben, Usher- Fred Vollink, Nursery - Glenda Habben, Sound System - Bruce Smit and Power Point - Jeremy Kamp. Thank you all for your service in and behind the scenes.
