This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church was so blessed this week to host Vacation Bible School. All were learning about the Apostle Paul's dangerous journey to share the truth. Paul wanted everyone to know there is one God who loves everyone. God loves us and wants us to share his love. After singing about God's Love we were introduced to each day's Bible Point and Bible Verse. By doing actions to these verses and even setting them to song, we can remember them for a long time to come. Oikos (households in Greek) each went to play Greek games, make Greek crafts, and meet Paul in prison for speaking about Jesus on his trips. Each Oikos spent time discussing the Bible points, reviewing the Bible verses and reporting God Sightings to display on the frieze (mural much like the one on the Parthenon). Relationships were made around the tables while eating delicious meals prepared for us by loving Calvin members. All were challenged to give items to the Christian Needs Center. It was so exciting to see the love of God flow through all in their presentations.
This Sunday we will continue with the VBS celebration by including several of the songs in worship that were learned this week. Some of our favorites were "Come, Now is the Time to Worship", "The Love of God", the theme song, "Yes, it's True", "Give All Your Worries and Your Cares to God" (1 Peter 5: 7) and "Get Up, Get Up and Tell The World." All participants are invited back this Sunday to worship with us at 10:15 AM.
Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will continue his sermon series on The Lord's Prayer focusing on the phrase "Lead Us Not Into Temptation, But Deliver Us From Evil." Pastor will use the text from Job 1: 1 - 22 for his message. Other scripture readings will include James 1: 12 - 18 read by Cass Martin and Mark 1: 9 -13 read by Pastor DeLapp. The song of response will be "Lead Me, Guide Me" accompanied by Miriam Hector.
Other servers will be Pete & Mary Attema as Greeters, Fred & Glenda Vollinik as Coffee Servers, Dave Hector as Usher, Glenda Habben in the Nursery, Jeremy Kamp as Power Point.
This Friday Calvin's Women's Ministry will be leaving at 8:30 AM for a Mystery Outing. Be ready for a fun adventure.
Calvin's building is located at 326 7th St SE. We invite all members and those looking for a church home to worship with us on Sunday and become prepared to serve as Christ's hands feet for the rest of the week.
