This Week at Calvin

This Memorial Day Weekend is a special time to honor all men and women who died in any war or military action.
Memorial Day started as an event to honor Union soldiers who had died in the American Civil War. It was then known as Decoration Day always on May 30th. Now it is uniformly observed on the last Monday in May. Calvin Church proudly salutes our veterans and present members in the military and thank them for their service to our country.
This Sunday, May 26, Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp continues with his sermon series on the Lord's Prayer. His text will be Mark 1: 14 - 28. This week's focus will be on the phrase "Thy Kingdom Come" (God bringing His Kingdom). Other scripture to be read this week will be from Daniel 7: 9 - 14 read by Tom De Koster and Psalm 11 read responsively between the Pastor and congregation.
Inez Hoogeveen will be presiding at the grand piano providing prelude, offertory and accompaniment to the hymns. They include "Come Thou Almighty King", "Immortal Invisible, God Only Wise", "How Firm A Foundation", and "Lead On O King Eternal." The closing song will be "If My People's Hearts are Humbled".
This Week's Greeters will be Pete & Mary Attema, Coffee Servers - Gary & Glenda Habben, Usher - Fred Vollink, Nursery - Elaine Zomermaand, Sound system and Power Point set up and run by Jeremy Kamp.
Calvin Church loves to do Vacation Bible School in this community for anyone who would love to attend. This year children are grouped into families with adult leaders and teenage helpers. They will explore the culture of ancient Athens, where Paul briefly stayed on his second missionary journey. Participants understand that God loves them deeply. Kids and adults will walk away with the comfort of knowing that God loves us all, takes care of us, loves us when others don't, sent his Son Jesus, and wants us to share his love. Each evening begins with a meal at 5:30 PM followed by Celebration songs and motions, Bible stories and Bible Points, Arena Games, Paul's Adventures, crafts in the Marketplace and closing with a Celebration Time ending at 8:15 PM. Dates for all this fun are Sunday, June 23rd through Wednesday, June 26th. Mark your calendars for joining this fun-filled time at Calvin.
If you would like to sign up as a participant, helper or leader please call the church at 546-4767 and leave a message with your information and we will get back to you.
Calvin is located at 326 7th St SE or on the web at calvincrclemars.org for past sermons.
