This Week at Calvin
Calvin Church welcomes all members and those looking for a church home to come worship with them this Sunday, May 19 at 10:15 AM. This will be a special service honoring the high school and college graduates that are members of Calvin. We congratulate them all on their achievements and wish them God's richest blessings on their future endeavors. At this service we will also be celebrating another reaffirmation of faith and welcoming of new members. We praise God for all His blessings! Cake will be served following the service.
This Sunday Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp continues his series of sermons on the Lord's Prayer. This week Pastor will focus on the phrase "Hallowed Be Thy Name" based on Isaiah 6: 1 - 4. This will be followed by the Heidelburg Question and Answer 122.
Communion will be celebrated this Sunday. All who are truly sorry for their sins who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Savior, and who desire to live in obedience to Him are invited to come with gladness to the table of our Lord this morning. Also as is Calvin's tradition on the Sunday of communion, we fill the blue barrel with items for the Christian Needs Center. The May Needs are: Pork & Beans, Rice, Oatmeal, Toilet paper, Shampoo and Toothpaste.
The Special Offering for May will be taken on May 19th. It is designated for the Le Mars Ministerial Association's Transient Ministry Fund.
Calvin welcomes Josiah Mullins, an actor and singer at the Brown's Century Theatre to lead us in song. He will usher us into the spirit of worship by singing the prelude. During the offertory he will sing an arrangement of The Lord's Prayer. He will lead the singing of 'Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty" during the distribution of communion. Other songs to be sung during this service will be "All Creatures of Our God & King" and "Your Name" accompanied by Miriam Hector on the organ and Angeli Shieh on the grand piano. The service concludes with the singing of 'The Doxology."
The Greeters on Sunday are "Anna Mae Koerselman and Steve Ver Mulm, Coffee Servers - Ina Bjorge & June Vos, Usher is Mike Van Otterloo, Nursery is supervised by Glenda Habben, Sound System run by Bruce Smit and PowerPoint set up and run by Jeremy Kamp. We thank them for their service.
Calvin invites all children ages 4 through 5th grade to join them at Vacation Bible School June 23 - 26. Each evening begins with a meal at 5:30 PM. Teenagers that feel left out are encouraged to be helpers. Adults are leaders of each family and lead the music, crafts, games and Bible study. The theme this year "Athens: Pauls' Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth". Please mark your calendars and join us at Calvin as we share God's love with the community.
