This Week at Calvin
This Sunday, Calvin Church will have it's last day of Sunday School at 9:00 AM. Then there will be a break for the summer. We thank all the faithful teachers and students that attended each Sunday to grow in their relationship with Christ.
However, plans are being nailed down for Vacation Bible School at Calvin during the summer. We welcome anyone who would love to be a part of an exciting Holy Land Adventure. During this event, families will explore the culture of ancient Athens, where Paul briefly stayed on his second missionary journey. We will help participants understand that God loves them deeply. Kids and adults will walk away with the comfort of knowing that God loves us all, takes care of us, loves us when others don't, sent his Son Jesus, and wants us to share his love. Each evening begins with a meal at 5:30 PM followed by Celebration songs and motions, Bible stories and Bible Points, Arena Games, Paul's Adventures, crafts in the Marketplace and closing with a Celebration Time ending at 8:15 PM. Dates for all this fun are Sunday, June 23rd through Wednesday, June 26th. Mark your calendars now before summer gets filled with other things.
May 12 is the 4th Sunday of Eastertide. The All For Him band will lead the singing of "Come, Now is the Time to Worship", "Resurrection Power" and "Same Power". Miriam Hector will lead all into a spirit of worship with a prelude on the grand piano titled "Brethren We Have Met to Worship". The offertory is a blend of "God of Wonders" and "Holy, Holy, Holy." The Old Testament reading is Isaiah 55: 6 - 11 and will be read by Bruce Smit. Psalm 97 is read responsively by Pastor Nevada and the congregation. The Gospel reading of Matthew 6: 5 -13. Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp's text for the next in the series of sermons on the Lord's Prayer will be Isaiah 55:1-13. This week will focus on "Our Father in Heaven." "Open the Eyes of My Heart" will be sung before and after the Gospel reading.

A thank you note was sent from the Operation Christmas Child ministry. They thanked us for more than 5,000 shoebox gifts contributed from Northwest Iowa. Praise God! These gifts include the message of Jesus and salvation only in Him. They thank all who take the time to fill a box and those in charge of organizing this great project. The total number of shoeboxes packed in 2018 tallied: 10,500,000+! This outpouring of love spread to children in over 100 countries around the world.
Part of Calvin's mission is to "develop a heart for our neighbors which leas us to serve and reach out to them for Christ." Won't you join us in that mission?
