This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church, at 326 7th St SE, observes Lent through a series of messages of "Dying to Self."  Pastor DeLapp began the messages with "Fasting with Jesus", " Loving enemies with Jesus", "Repentance", "Confession of Sins" and this week The Time "in-between" Death and Resurrection.  He will use the text from Luke 22: 14 - 43 for his message.  This week a fifth purple candle is snuffed out of the Lenten Triad.  By Palm Sunday only the Christ Candle will be left burning.
On Maundy Thursday, April 18th, Calvin will have a special service reliving the Passion in the Gospel of Mark at 6:30 PM.  At this time we will celebrate communion and at the end of the service the Christ Candle will be snuffed out, leaving the sanctuary dark.  Then bursting forth on Easter morning Christ conquers death and is resurrected from the grave.  Calvin Church will celebrate with The Reality of Resurrection at 10:15 AM on April 21st.   Come one and all to relive these times in Christ's life that have changed the world and hopefully changed your life as well.
This Sunday, April 7th, Paige Visscher will be leading all in attendance to a spirit of worship with a prelude on the grade piano.  Paige is a student at the Le Mars Beauty School and sister to Patrick Visscher, member of the All For Him praise team.  Together with the band they will lead the congregation in the singing of "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and the chorus of The Wonderful Cross", "It is Well" by Lauren Daigle, "Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)" and "In Christ Alone."  For the offertory Paige will sing and play the solo "O The Blood" by Todd Fields.
During this service we will hear the Ten Commandments and recite together The Apostles' Creed.
The Greeter is Carol Wolfswinkel, Coffee Servers - Fred & Glenda Vollink, Usher - Lynda Bulthuis, Nursery - Glenda Habben, Sound System - Bruce Smit and Power Point - Jeremy Kamp.  Coffee and refreshments are served following the service in the narthex.  This is a great time to meet and greet new and old friends.
Sunday School classes for all ages begins at 9:00 AM.  Sharon Zomermaand shares her love of God with the children, Pastor De Lapp explains the Belgic Confession to the youth and Dr. Tom Bjorge leads a video/discussion of Ray Vander Laan's Path to the Cross with the adults.  This week's lesson is when Jesus is led in to the desert to be tested.  Coffee is always ready, so feel free to join the educational and discipleship opportunities to grow in a relationship with Christ.
During the week, the Evening Women's Bible Study meets on Wednesday at 6:30.  Laura Grigsby leads a video/discussion on "Brokenness is the Path to Healing" by Sheila Walsh.
Calvin invites to join them  each week at the physical church on 4th Ave or by visiting the website at clavincrclemars.org for past sermons.
