This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church, located at 326 7th St SE in Le Mars, IA, observes the 3rd Sunday of Lent by extinguishing the 3rd candle of the Lenten Triad. Each Lenten Sunday we snuff out another purple candle until we get to Good Friday, when the white Christ Candle is also extinguished. On Easter morning, we will relight the Christ candle to symbolize Christ's resurrection and Him being the Light of the World. A litany of confession will be read responsively during this observance. "This Little Light of Mine will be sung as a song of response.
This Sunday, March 24th, Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada DeLapp will use the text from Luke 13: 1 -9 as his message on "Repentance." Other scripture readings include Isaiah 55: 1 - 9 read by Glenda Habben, Psalm 63: 1 -8 read responsively the Pastor and congregation and 1 Corinthians 10: 1 - 13 read by John Petersen.
This Sunday is a very special Sunday where we witness infant baptism at Calvin. Praise God for his blessings!
Alyssa Grigsby will provide the music to lead worship. She will be playing the prelude, offertory and accompanying the hymns on the grand piano. The hymns include "Here I Am To Worship," "Baptized in Water", "Ancient Words", "There Is A Redeemer" and "Marvelous Grace."
Other servers will be Greeters Tom & Joyce De Koster, Coffee Servers Ina Bjorge & June Vos, Usher Dave Hector, Nursery Cindy De Vos, Sound System and Power Point Jeremy Kamp.
This Sunday the Sunday School Classes begin new studies. Come at 9:00 AM to discover God with Sharon Zomermaand and the children, the Belgic Confession with Pastor DeLapp and the young adults and a Ray Vander Laan faith lesson titled "The Path to the Cross" with the Adults.
Monday evening The Youth for Christ Teen Center will be having their annual Spring Banquet, "Be The Story". Calvin Church loves to support our youth in our community and we love to have a great turn out to hear the testimonies of lives being touched by this wonderful ministry. This is held at the Le Mars Convention Center Upper Level. Doors open at 6:00 pm with dinner and program starting at 6:30.
On Wednesday evening the Women meet at 6:30 with Laura Grigsby leading Session 4 "Brokenness Is to Be Shared", a video/discussion written by Sheila Walsh.
One of Calvin's mission statements is to "minister to each other and our neighbors through caring relationships". Join us at one or all of these opportunities to reach others for Christ.
Past sermons are always available on the website Calvin Christian Reformed Church Home
