This Week at Calvin

This Sunday, February 18, we welcome back Pastor Rev. Dr. Nevada De Lapp from vacation and on his birthday.  You know what that means?  Cake.  Yes, after the service all will be treated to a piece of cake to help him celebrate!

This Sunday is also Communion Sunday.  The worship planning team found a Holy Communion service from the Church of the Province of Kenya based on two books: the Bible and the Prayer Book.  As we use this service, and are fed by his holy Word and holy Sacrament, let us enjoy worshipping the God of our fathers, through Jesus Christ his Son in the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are brothers and sisters through the blood of Christ.

Miriam Hector is preparing a prelude on the grand piano to lead all worshippers into a time of Lenton meditation and reflection.
The All For Him band will lead the singing of "I Love You Lord", " Jesus Lord of Heaven", "Thy Word", and "Kaliedoscope" during the offering.
Will Ver Mulm is willing to read The Epistle lesson from 1 Peter 3: 18 - 22.  Pastor will read the Gospel Lesson Mark 1:: 9 - 15, and the text for the sermon  Ecclesiates 5: 1-7.  There will be a litany of intercessions and Prayers of Penitence.  Communion will be served by the elders as all are seated.  Prayerful songs "Break Now The Bread" and "There is A Redeemer" will be sung during the distribution.

As is tradition on communion, Calvin invites all members to contribute to the Christian Needs Center.  Some of those needs are soup, syrup, cleaning supplies (toilet bowl cleaner, dish soap, all purpose cleaner).

This Sunday evening is the 14th Annual Praise Band Fest beginning at 5:00 PM.  Three groups: Rejoice! Praise Team, ONE and All For HIm from Calvin are preparing to sing some their favorite Contemporary Christian songs for all who would love to hear them live.  A free-will offering will be given to Josh's Ride (a charity that donates custom bikes for special children in Le Mars)  They have given 16 bikes to this date and are hoping to give a few more.  Please join us in giving to this great charity that serves our community.
A meal will be served in the Fellowship Hall in the basement following the time of worship and praise.  A donation will the meal will also be given to Josh's Ride. We pray for a the Holy Spirit to be present at this special time of several churches joining in worship of our awesome God!

Calvin Church is located at 326 7th St SE or on the web at calvincrclemars.org for past sermons and information.  Guests are expected and welcomed.
