This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church anticipates worshipping together on Sunday, July 22 at 10:15 AM.  This Sunday the All For Him band will be accompanying the singing of some of the VBS favorites.  They were: "How Can I Keep From Singing Your Praise?", "Soul on Fire", "Awesome God" and "Jehovah Jireh."  Miriam Hector will open worship with the prelude on a Mark Hayes' arrangement of "O Worship the King."  For the offertory she will play a combination of "Indescribable" and "This Is My Father's World" arranged by Carol Turnquist.
The text for this week's sermon is from Hebrews 12: 18 - 29 and will be read by Chuck Zommermand, the Old Testament lesson from Jeremiah 23: 1 - 26 will be read by Tom De Koster. The favorite Psalm 23 will be recited responsively and the Gospel reading Mark 6: 30 - 34; 53 - 56 will be read by Pastor Nevada De Lapp.

Other servers are Troy and Elisa Hughes as Greeters, Gary and Glenda Habben as Coffee Servers, Lynda Bulthuis as Usher, Karin De Lapp supervising Nursery, Mike Feenstra as Sound System, and Jeremy Kamp as PowerPoint.

Join us in worship this Sunday and fellowship over a cup of coffee or lemonade.  Following this time of fellowship all are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a meal.  The meat and potatoes are provided and others are asked to bring a dish to share.  All are welcomed to this time as we visit and share our joys and concerns.

In the afternoon Calvin is responsible for nursing home ministry at Prime Living (1:30) and Plymouth Manor (2:15).  Pastor De Lapp will lead us in a short meditation and Miriam Hector will accompany the singing of many favorite hymns.  More singers are always appreciated.

There is one more week of Meals on Wheels deliveries.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex to sign up for the days that work for you.  Thank you to all who have volunteered in this community service.

On Monday, the women of Calvin are planning a trip to Hull, Ia.  We are meeting at the church at 11:00 am to car pool.  The plan is to have lunch at the Le Meilleur Bakery and Barista in Hull and then attend the Bible League Christmas in July at the Hull CRC. There will be tables of baked goods, crafts, plants, etc for a silent auction.  Andrew Earnshaw,, a representative from the Bible League headquarters will be there to speak to us about the work of Bible League International.    Hope to see you there.
