This Week at Calvin

This year at Calvin Church, we will echo what we do during Advent by lighting candles on the six Sundays of Lent. Each Sunday we will reflect on our journey toward the cross, hear Scripture, and light a purple candle from the Christ candle.
This Sunday, Rev. Jesse Walhof, from Living Water Church in Sheldon will lead worship. Jesse is a son of Calvin and we welcome him to the pulpit this week. HIs message will be from Luke 23: 32 - 35 and his message is titled "Jesus' First Words on the Cross". Angeli Shieh and Miriam Hector will accompany the hymns and songs of praise on the piano and organ. They include: "Before the Throne of God Above", "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling" (Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon), Song of Praise: "Ten Thousand Reasons" and Song of Preparation of reading The Word: "Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God".
Communion will be celebrated this week. During the distribution we will all sing "Amazing Grace." The Doxology will send us out in praise and thankfulness for God's goodness to us.
Items needed for the Christian Needs Center are: canned tuna or chicken, juice, ketchup and shampoo.
Sunday School classes are available for all ages. They begin at 9:00 am. Worship at 10:00 am on Sundays.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study will meet on February 24th at 6:30 PM in the church basement. Their new series is "Growing Through Life's Challenges."
