This Week at Calvin

Calvin Church observes Advent with the theme of "Be Not Afraid". Sunday, December 14, at 10 am we light the candle of peace. We wait for God's promises of peace on earth and good will to all. We pray that God's peace would break through
our restless hearts and lead us to Bethlehem, where we can celebrate our Savior's birth.
Rev. Nathan Kuperus, pastor from Ireton CRC, will be leading worship. His message "Don't Fear the Dragon" based on Revelation 12. The All For Him band and singers will lead the singing of Prince of Peace (You Are Holy), Angels We Have Heard on High, Meekness and Majesty, Celebrate the Child, and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus. The closing song will be My Soul Cries Out with a Joyful Shout.
This Sunday at 9:00 AM education teachers Tom DeKoster, Sharon Zomermaand and Dave Hector lead interesting classes for all ages.
On December 12th, we are doing another fresh box program food distribution from USDA. There will be 931 boxes weighing 33 lbs. each. This will begin at noon. Participants should arrive at United Methodist Church, 901 3rd Ave SE and will be instructed where to pick up the food.
Calvin is preparing a Christmas Eve service for 5:00 PM entitled "Do Not Be Afraid" as seen through the lives of Zechariah, Mary, Joseph , the shepherds all living ordinary lives that were upended when God sent his messengers to them. We will be also challenged as listeners: how will we respond when God has a message for you? Many Christmas carols will be sung with piano and organ.
