This Week at Calvin
Calvin Christian Reformed Church is "A Caring Church, Reaching Community" (CCRC). Our mission is to praise God trough creative and joyful worship, sound Biblical preaching, an inspiring music ministry and continual prayer. Each week we have found excellent pulpit supply while our church's search team is diligently starting this process.
This Sunday, October 11th, we have our friend Pastor Verlyn Schaap, a retired preacher from Friendship Community Church in Sergeant Bluff, sharing The Word. He has chosen to continue a James sermon series he started last month with us. This week's text comes from James 1: 19 - 27. The sermon title is "Listening and Doing." He has requested "Build My Life" as the song of response.
Miriam Hector will lead all into a spirit of worship with a prelude on the grand piano. Her selection is "Moment by Moment" (in the setting of Camille Saint-Saens" Le Cygne).
The All For Him band and singers will lead the singing of our songs of our only hope in Jesus. They include: "Cornerstone", "Is He Worthy?" and "Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me".
Adult Sunday School is studying the Max Lucado DVD study on Prayer. Max reminded us that "We Need Help" and must not be afraid to ask God for help in our search of a new pastor and in our daily challenges. Come and join this fun group at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Coffee will be ready.
Next week Wednesday is the Evening Women's Bible Study at 6:30 PM.
Looking ahead you can mark your calendars for the celebration of communion on the 18th. We will include a Preparatory Exhortation for Communion this week to prepare our hearts for this sacrament. Next week is a special offering for World Renew and Christian Needs Center. An Autumn Indoor Picnic will follow the service. Mark your calendars and join us as we gather around the table in both ways.
Your tithes and offerings may be place in the wicker basket at the back of the sanctuary, sent to the church office at 326 7th ST SE or given to the secretary during her office hours Monday through Friday, 10 - noon.
We welcome all friends and members to join us in live worship. Seating is asked staggered throughout the sanctuary. There is plenty of room for visitors and all. Please join us in the public worship of God: Father, Soon and Holy Spirit!
Services are recorded for on-line streaming, on CDs available under the mailboxes or on our website at calvincrclemars.org.
